MAGIC SECRETS and COUNTER-CHARMS of GUIDON.

$850.00

Practitioner of Healing by Occult Means.

Translated from Norman French by Philippe Pissier. The Latin Englished by Quintus. Burbage, Hinkley, Leicestershire, England: Society of Esoteric Endeavor, 2011. Limited Edition of 180 copies, this being no. 156 Paperback with a “yap” binding (where the covers extend beyond the bookblock) with clipped corners. Modern paperback covers are laminated with plastic to make them impervious. The covers of this edition have been waterproofed in the traditional manner, being rubbed with beeswax that is then polished with a smooth stone. The rough charm of the original production has been recaptured. The paper (Hahnemahle Medieval Laid 130 gsm) was selected as that most like 17th Century paper, with its texture a natural result of the traditional mould-made production method, which also gives it natural decal edges, here carefully retained. Lead type was expensive, and so was used long after it had started to wear. A typeface is here used which duplicates the appearance that wear gave to the printed page. The (occasionally erratic) use of italics and arrangement of the text is exactly reproduced, as are the sometimes-irregular borders. 3⅞" x 6½". 88pp. pp.1-56 Spells & Cures pp.57-60 Illustrations two of which are hand-coloured, a sigil from front cover, and a tipped in talisman.

pp.61-74 Afterword providing historical background and pp.75-88 Footnotes.

Fine Condition.
